Founder, President
Alli Forbes

Hi! I’m the founder of Phoebes, Alli Forbes. I want to share a very small part of my story, in hopes that you will see my heart for our local community.
I grew up in St. Tammany Parish and went to St. Margaret Mary School and Fontainebleau High School. I graduated from LSU in 2002 and began working in youth and college ministries all across the world.
Due to the nature of that work, I personally experienced exploitation and abuses that are far from traditional, yet allow me to connect with those that have walked in the darkest valleys of exploitation and suffering.
In 2018, as a single mother, I moved back to Mandeville with my three children.
Through the healing process that goes along with prior survivor experiences, I found connections through our community that substantially expedited healing, reducing secondary survivor traumas.
However, the need is great.
I was able to creatively meet unique needs over the years, but it’s not been without its difficulties. The hindsight provided from a healed state has launched me into a lifelong commitment to reach back into the fire and show others the way out. Reveal hope and healing from a place of lived experience.
Specifically, Phoebes was born out of a small group, my core community of women, that committed to fast and pray alongside me for our local community.
Our heart is to provide the prayers, resources, and partnerships that helped me; while filling the gaps in areas that would have made life less difficult.
It is my privilege and highest honor to serve my local community in this critical way. I look forward to tending these local nests with you, for our children’s sake.
Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

Jessica Smith Cook is an entrepreneur, thought leader, and long time victim advocate, believes that all victims have a voice and deserve to be heard. She founded Foxhole - Reclaimed, a Baton Rouge based community-driven resale initiative that breathes new life into home goods, while a percentage of the sales directly fund families at Phoebes. She challenges other small businesses and mom “side-hustles” to get in the foxhole with survivors, through multiplying a little, to affect the many.
